Purposes of Supervision
Supervisors are
accountable to provide a personally and professionally safe and confidential
environment where workers are enabled to discover and address any issues
that may be hindering their ability to function well.
Anyone who
is working with people: whether as a professional helper, workplace
supervisor, or as one of a team, needs support (e.g. teachers,
social workers, managers).
What is the Process?
Professional support is a dynamic supportive process in which
a worker is assisted to meet organisational, professional and personal
objectives including competence, accountability, and professional
development.
Supporters work in ways which allow the professional person to reflect
critically on their own work, and to make changes where necessary.
